A short post this time.
Here I talked about the value Carl Everett brings to the table. I believed that the magnitude of some of his hits have been potentially of the season-saving variety. The kind of hits that sabermetrics can’t measure the true impact of. I still believe that to be true. But now we have a problem. Carl Everett has quickly gone from a a below average hitter who’s come up with really important hits, to simply a below average hitter who is blocking the troops from storming the beach.
The M’s can no longer afford the rate of out-making in the middle of that lineup. They simply have to have better continuity there. Without at least the potential of a MOTO threat there, the M’s will continue to remain the mistake-hitting team they are. And continue to get rolled by good pitcher.
While it’s true the M’s have run into a blizzard pitchers on their A game, it starts to become obvious that the offense actually needs to be strengthened.
So Padna is now no longer dissenting. Time to free Doyle.
And if the M’s decide not to be buyers (which it’s too early at this point), they need to find every opportunity they can to get MLB AB’s to their up and coming Tacoma guys.
In any case, I cannot see Snelling doing worse than Everett. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that Jones is ready to out-perform Everett.

Hey Russter why don’t you hit Wolfy up for a Panda (or preferred) icon in the Pos-I-Tronic at DOV?
Dunno whether M-Geek would include ya in the bloggerang since it’s half political, but you command so much respeck that it wouldn’t surprise me…
