Pelosi’s Pretzels (As In Twisted Logic)

So let me see if I get this straight:

Requiring voter ID does not prevent non-citizens from voting – it prevents citizens from voting.

Supporters of this Republican voter suppression bill will claim this bill is about preventing non-citizens from voting.  It’s just the opposite.  It’s a bill designed to prevent citizens from voting….

I can’t even begin to try to figure out how to build a solid logical case for that.  Pelosi says that this will impose “time-consuming, burdensome, expensive” process that will only prevent registered voters from voting.  Of course, the usual victims groups are called out and political mind reading, re grandstanding, is shown as the minority leader ‘informs’ everyone what the intent of the bill really is in her speech on the house floor.

The alternative of having dead people vote, having people vote twice, and having illegal voters vote is a better alternative, right?  People, being naturally good at heart would never go through any loopholes to cast illegal votes, right?  None of the states that don’t require proof of citizenship to cast votes actually have illegal votes cast, right?

If the law allows people over 21 to drink alcohol, I suppose requiring ID for that would be too burdensome and the intent of the ID requirement must be to prevent those of legal age from being able to purchase an adult beverage as opposed to the law’s obvious intent.

We believe such a requirement would constitute nothing less than a 21st century poll tax,” said a letter from Reps. John Conyers, D-Mich., and John Lewis, D-Ga. Poll taxes were once used in some states to prevent black citizens from voting.”

Using the race card again.  Ho hum.  Some things don’t seem to change.
